In Russia for the first time tested its own base station LTE

For the first time in the history of the country, the Radio Research Institute tested its own LTE base station in Russia, which was developed and manufactured at the institute and the Laboratory of Infocommunication Networks, CNews reported. This base station operates in the 2.3-2.4 GHz band and is intended primarily to provide socially significant facilities with the necessary cellular communications as part of the state program to eliminate the digital divide in Russia. Actually, it is precisely because of this that the base station operates precisely in the specified range, since the operator of the Rostelecom project also works in it.

It is worth noting that this base station was previously tested in laboratory conditions to test workflows.

“We are with LIS [«Лаборатория инфокоммуникационных сетей»] we checked how the LTE-RUS-2300M system complies with 3GPP standards, whether it supports the functions of a base station – whether there is interface support, the ability to make calls and connect to the Internet through different devices. Tests have shown that the characteristics of the base station correspond to the equipment of the international level,” Oleg Ivanov, General Director of the Radio Research Institute, officially stated.

Also, Vladimir Aksenov, technical director of the Laboratory of Infocommunication Networks, added that in the process of testing the base station, VoLTE voice calls, ViLTE video calls were made, data transmission was tested with support for QoS profiles, and more. The final results only proved the operability of the development in real operating conditions. Probably, when the developers finally test the base station, the authors of the project will start the process of production and installation of new items.
