Yesterday, October 27, Moscow hosted the Huawei Developer Day conference, during which for the first time in Russia a purchase was carried out using the “Wallet” application through a smart watch Huawei Watch 3. Accordingly, now users can add the data of their cards of international payment systems Mastercard or Visa to the “Pay Wallet” service application to make purchases thanks to a smart gadget both in Russia and abroad. Users of Huawei smartwatches get access to this service in the first quarter of 2022, and the Wallet application itself is preinstalled on Huawei Watch 3 sold in Russia and Belarus.
In addition, during the Huawei Developer Day event, the developers of the Wallet application signed a memorandum of strategic partnership with Huawei – the companies plan to implement many new ideas in the field of fintech solutions in Russia.
“Because of the pandemic, most consumers have started to use mobile payments instead of plastic cards and even cash. Buyers find this payment method not only safer, but also more convenient. I am sure that the owners of Huawei smartwatches will appreciate the new feature of their gadgets. Now, for contactless payments through the Wallet Pay service, users will only have to add a card to their smart watch and pay for purchases, even if they did not take their phone with them, “said Kirill Gorynya, CEO of the Wallet application.
It is worth recalling that Pay Wallet is the world’s first mobile contactless payment service that received the Open Wallet status and is available on Huawei’s new wearable gadgets. At the moment, more than 60 Russian and Belarusian banks have already connected to the service, plus it has been certified according to Visa and Mastercard security standards.
