In Russia, they want to introduce digital profiles of students: so far as an experiment

The information publication “Kommersant”, citing its sources in the government today, June 8, reported information that the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation is preparing a concept for a project to create a digital profile for a student. So far, this project is being created only as part of an experiment, but in the future, as they say in the Ministry, they plan to make this digital profile mandatory for absolutely all children in Russia.

This digital profile for the child will be created during the first registration process when receiving educational services – when the child enrolls in kindergarten or, if the parents decide to skip this stage, when entering the first grade of school. Accordingly, as told in the department, the digital profile will contain absolutely all information about the student’s achievements in the format of a portfolio – with all the relevant information about academic performance, achievements and other parameters that are necessary to identify a person in the educational environment.

It is planned to conduct an experiment in which students will create new digital profiles in 15 regions of Russia until December 31, 2022. Based on the results of the project, a decision will be made to introduce digital profiles, the need for which was announced back in December last year by the Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education Elena Druzhinina.
