The death of Ukrainian journalist Victoria Rostsina in Taganrog’s prison, southern Russia, causes disgust for her torture, as her body was returned to her home country without eyes, brains and larynx, probably to stay in the artisanal. Prior to the war, this prison was hosting minors and mothers with children. But after the full -scale invasion of Ukraine, it turned into one of the darkest spots of an extensive network of torture for Ukrainian captives – both military and citizens. Torture and disappearances without trial according to Ukrainian House data, more than 16,000 Ukrainian citizens have disappeared from the Russian -based areas. Many of them are held without any category or legal procedure, in more than 180 locations. Six months research by international media (The Guardian, Washington Post, Le Monde, etc.), led by Forbidden Stories, recorded systematic use of torture in 29 prisons – 18 within Russia and 11 in occupied territories.
