In the Irkutsk region, “failed miners” transferred 2.5 million rubles to fraudsters

The Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Irkutsk Region reported 16 cases of fraud with equipment for mining cryptocurrencies and renting premises for mining farms.

According to the report of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Irkutsk Region, on December 15, a young man from the regional center filed an application with law enforcement agencies. A 26-year-old local resident fell victim to scammers.

According to him, at the beginning of the month he saw an advertisement for the sale of ASIC miners. He called the phone number indicated in the announcement and agreed to purchase equipment. The man signed an agreement with the company and transferred over 250,000 rubles to the scammers’ account. The miners did not deliver within the agreed time frame. The man made an attempt to contact the “company manager”, but the phone became unavailable.

He became one of the many victims of the scammers. In the last three days alone, 16 citizens who have become victims of malefactors have already contacted the local police. The scammers offered both equipment for mining cryptocurrencies and renting premises for mining. The victims transferred a total of 2.5 million rubles to the scammers’ account. The police launched an investigation into 16 cases of fraud with equipment for the extraction of cryptocurrencies and rental of premises for mining.

Law enforcement agencies warned local residents to be vigilant and avoid contacting sellers of mining equipment and landlords of premises for mining cryptocurrencies at an attractive price. The police recommend that before concluding a contract and transferring money, carefully study the activities of the company and its documents.

Yesterday in Moscow, a buyer and accomplices confiscated a $ 1 million bag from a USDT seller. This month, a resident of Yoshkar-Ola lost 800,000 rubles when investing in cryptocurrencies. In March, attackers stole 10 pieces of mining equipment in the Leningrad Region.
