In the latest build of Windows 11 abandoned the tabs in the “Explorer”

In the latest build of Windows 11 at the moment, number 22581, the tabs in the “Explorer” that have already been tested have disappeared. This was noticed by the Windows Latest portal, but he also said that there may not be cause for concern.

Tabs for File Explorer first began testing in Build 22572, which is a developer-only preview of Windows 11 22H2 Update (Dev Channel). Then they were removed in build 22579. After that, they reappeared in the minor update 22579.100, and now they disappeared again.

This is what the tabs looked like in one of the latest builds of Windows 11

There may not be any cause for concern because build 22581 (which last lost tabs) is being released in the beta channel, and not purely for developers, and all updates in beta builds are tied to the upcoming major update, codenamed Sun Valley 2. The removal of tabs may mean that Microsoft has not yet tested them enough and is not ready to release the updated File Explorer in the next update, but this does not mean that the company has abandoned them forever.

Windows 11 23H2 previews (scheduled for 2023) will start testing in the Dev channel soon – if File Explorer tabs appear in them, it’s safe to assume that the developers will definitely implement them next year.
