According to IDC analysts, the market for “traditional” PCs, which at IDC refers to desktops, laptops and workstations, in EMEA, which includes Europe, the Middle East and Africa, continued to grow in the last quarter. A total of 22.2 million PCs were sold between April and June. The growth was not as impressive as in the previous quarter, but it still stood at 6.5%. At the same time, in the desktop segment, the growth was 6.2%, and in the mobile segment – 6.6%. For comparison: in the first quarter, growth was 44.1%.
Lenovo became the market leader, pushing HP to second place. Interestingly, the Chinese manufacturer was able to increase sales in annual terms by only 5.5%, that is, it lagged behind the market as a whole, but its competitor completely reduced sales by 11.2%. As a result, Lenovo’s share increased from 25.6% to 25.8%, while HP’s share decreased from 28.6% to 24.3%.
Dell retained the third place. It was able to increase sales by 8.0%, which led to an increase in share from 13.1% to 13.5%.
The top five, like a year ago, are closed by Acer and Asus. But if Acer increased sales by 23.9%, as a result of which its share increased from 8.1% to 9.6%, then Asus was able to increase sales by only 6.8%. However, this is still higher than the general indicator. Asus’ share increased from 7.2% to 7.4%.
