Local residents complained about overloads on the network, in nearby apartment buildings there was a decrease in voltage and failure of household appliances, the wolf noted. In one of the garages, mining equipment was found. On the spot, the police seized 13 devices for the extraction of cryptocurrency, a SIM card with a router, a camera with a flash drive and an electricity accounting device.
Measurements of power engineers showed that the total volume of illegal consumption of the farm exceeded 480 thousand kW · h. An individual in Russia have the right to spend not more than 6 thousand kW per month on cryptocurrency mining – these are approximately 2-3 devices for mining.
A criminal case has been opened under Art. 165 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (causing property damage to the owner or other owner of the property by deception or abuse of trust in the absence of signs of theft, committed in large scale), the wolf said.
