“In the Target” of Shein and Temu Commission – suggests extra charge for each parcel

The European Commission today proposed to impose a fee of 2 euros on each small parcel entering Europe. The vast majority of these packages comes from China. “We are talking about 2 euros per parcel, payable from the platform,” said Commerce Maros Shefkovic, speaking to the European Parliament in Brussels. According to Sefkovic, about 4.6 billion parcels were introduced to the EU last year. The main objective is to finance checks that need to be reinforced due to the increase in imported parcels of low value from Asia, mainly by platforms such as Shein and Temu. Brussels are afraid that platforms will turn to the European market because the US will increase tariffs on Chinese products. This measure was requested by France, which at the end of April proposed that a “management fee” be imposed on any small parcel imported into Europe. Source: RES
