In the United States, two children escaped from an orphanage, stole weapons and started shooting at police officers. As a result, the girl was injured and the boy surrendered. Reported by CNN.

As noted, the sheriff’s deputies from Volusha County, Florida, seriously injured a 14-year-old girl after she and a 12-year-old boy broke into someone else’s house, found a weapon there and opened fire on law enforcement officers.

According to Sheriff Mike Chitwood, the girl was shot in the stomach and arm and is fighting for her life in the hospital, while the boy gave up and was not injured.

The children fled the Florida United Methodist Orphanage (FUMCH), authorities said.

“This is a tragedy, it is the result of the system failing our children,” said FUMCH CEO Kitwana McTire. “These children are desperate for care and facilities – they need a higher level of care than we provide.”

According to Chitwood, the children fled around 5:00 pm on Tuesday, at around 7:30 pm a passer-by told the sheriff’s deputies that he heard glass shattered in a nearby house. Law enforcement officers found that the house was broken into. They contacted the homeowner, who said that there should be no one at home and that there was a pistol, a shotgun and an AK-47, as well as a large amount of ammunition.

According to the sheriff, when his deputies surrounded the house and tried to negotiate with the teenagers, the children opened fire.

The girl then left the house with a gun and announced that she would kill the sergeant, Chitwood said.

According to the sheriff, the girl fired several shots before law enforcement officers fired back.

After the girl fell, the boy, armed with an AK-47, surrendered.
