After the opening of a Brazilian vice consulate in Orlando, Florida, in the United States, this Saturday (11), President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) told journalists that the ministers of the STF (Supreme Federal Court) must respect the Constitution. because “they are not gods”.
The statement took place when the president was asked if it would not be an affront to the STF to meet the Bolsonarista blogger Allan dos Santos, investigated by an alleged criminal organization that would produce “fake news” against ministers of the Supreme – Santos was arrested in October last year. by Minister Alexandre de Moraes. The blogger participated in the motorcycle race organized in Orlando, which was attended by the president.
“If he’s present, I’ll talk to him, he’s a citizen, I’ll talk to him without any problem. He is a Brazilian citizen. Whether he expressed it, whether it was good or bad, his penalty could never be a threat of imprisonment,” Bolsonaro said.
“The Supreme has to understand that they are not gods. We are all authorities and subject to our constitution. So there are some [ministros] in the Supreme, not all, [que] they have to get it out of their heads that they are not the ‘all powerful’. They have mistakes, they have flaws and they have to bow to the Constitution. And above us are the citizens. My life is not easy, I’m not complaining, and I do everything possible to serve the Brazilian population”, said the president.
Note from the military
Bolsonaro also talked about how he will manage the crisis generated by the release of a document on Friday (10) in which the Minister of Defense, Paulo Sergio Nogueira, demands the president of the Superior Electoral Court (TSE), Edson Fachin, that the proposals made by the Armed Forces to improve the electoral system are met.
“The TSE invited the military, to make it very clear. They raised hundreds of vulnerabilities and presented noble intentions. And after that they began to be harassed by the [ministro Luís Roberto] Barroso and Fachin. And the note from the Defense Minister the day before yesterday is a very clear, objective note where he signals that we cannot be sidelined in this process, because elections are about security, national sovereignty, peace and internal tranquility,” he said. the president.
In the note, the Defense Minister says that “transparent elections are matters of national sovereignty” and that “we are not interested in concluding the election under the shadow of distrust”.
“Why not improve the system? If there is doubt, not a few people, why not seek this analysis? And the way they have been dealing with this issue, ‘I’m the boss here’, ‘whoever doesn’t accept, I register and arrest’, among other things. This is not the attitude of people who live in a democratic country”, declared Bolsonaro.
The report of CNN sought the STF and TSE to pass on the president’s statements and awaits no response. Minister Alexandre de Moraes did not comment on the blogger’s presence at the event.
