A little later than promised, Nvidia released the first graphics driver lacking support for Kepler generation graphics cards.
The GeForce Game Ready Driver 496.13 no longer has full support for the huge number of GeForce GTX 600 and GTX 700 graphics cards. The only exceptions are the GeForce GTX 750 Ti, GeForce GTX 750 and GeForce GTX 745 because they are based on the Maxwell generation GPU.
Kepler generation cards will now only receive security updates. New functions, optimization for new games and everything else is no longer allowed for the owners of such adapters.
Nvidia explained this decision by the fact that the cards are already too old and do not support many modern technologies and functions. In terms of prevalence, the GTX 760 is now the most popular among the Kepler generation in Steam statistics. It is used by 0.25% of gamers. This is not much, but, for example, RTX 3050s are less common so far. If we talk about performance, the same GTX 780 Ti performs well even in modern games.
