According to TrendForce estimates, the ten largest semiconductor contract manufacturers reached $29.55 billion in revenue in the fourth quarter of 2021. This is an 8.3% increase compared to the third quarter and a new record. Note that the record values are recorded for the tenth quarter in a row.
Analysts say one of the factors driving manufacturers’ revenue growth is rising average price (ASP) driven by continued component shortages and full capacity utilization.
TrendForce believes that the revenue of the top ten contract manufacturers, which together occupy 97% of the market (of which the top five account for almost 90%), will continue to grow in the current quarter. At the same time, the main driver of growth will continue to be the increase in ASP.
The largest contract manufacturer is TSMC, but its share decreased from 53.1% to 52.1% compared to the third quarter. But the share of Samsung, which ranks second, increased from 17.2% to 18.3%. The third place is occupied by UMC. The share of this manufacturer decreased from 7.2% to 7.0%. The full data of the first ten are given in the table:
