In the midst of treatment for bowel cancer, diagnosed in August last year, Simony updated her followers on her health status.
In a live on Instagram this Monday night (19), she reported having done a new PET scan, an exam that identifies tumor foci, and was surprised to hear from the doctor that there were no visible lymph nodes.
“I am in the fourth cycle of treatment, which is immunotherapy along with chemotherapy. […] Today I went for the PET scan, an exam that makes us very apprehensive. There comes a time when we run out of gas, we get a little lazy, a little sad, a little unaware of what is going on, if it works out”, began the artist.
“I took the exam, I was already thinking it was taking too long, it was all in our heads. At the end of the exam, the doctor usually comes to talk to you to tell you what’s going on. He said: ‘I don’t see any lymph nodes anymore, I don’t see anything there’”, she added emotionally, before receiving a hug from her daughter Aysha.
“I am in remission and I have only gratitude to you who prayed for me. Today, June 19th, is Rebirth Day. I want to thank my fans, my mom, my friends far and near. My cry is of joy. Only those who go through it know what this treatment is, it is very difficult ”, she added.
After the live broadcast, Simony insisted on saving the video and sharing her journey against the disease with the public.
“My mission does not end here. My mission is that I get everyone to have the same treatment I had, I know that many people don’t, and I am very sad about that. God will lead me on this path so that I can help”, he concluded.
In the comments, friends and family vibrated with the news and progress in the singer’s treatment. “I love you so much, I knew everything was going to work out, you are a warrior, mom,” wrote Aysha. “Glory to God amen Jesus”, commented Tata Werneck
“I love you forever, we’ve been in this fight for a long time, my warrior”, said Mc Ryan, Simony’s eldest son with rapper Afro X.
Understand the PET Scan exam
A CNN Alexandre Jácome, leader of the gastrointestinal tumors specialty at Grupo Oncoclínicas, explains that PET-CT, also called PET Scan, is an imaging exam performed by nuclear medicine, in which a venous contrast agent is injected into the patient and specific for certain cells and regions of the organism.
“Most of the time, the contrast used has glucose and is a marked glucose. Therefore, when a PET scan is performed, naturally our brain will ‘shine’ a lot, as well as the heart, liver and other regions where there is metabolic activity”, he says.
“In the case of cancer oncology, as diseased cells are often in high metabolic activity and consuming more glucose, they will also ‘glow’ and thus it is possible to detect the regions of the organism that may have the disease and other points that have not been detected. identified with conventional exams”, he concludes.
