As reported by GAZ Group, the production of a commercial vehicle GAZelle NN – a new generation GAZelle – has begun at the Turkish assembly site in the city of Sakaria. Moreover, the car is equipped with an engine that meets the requirements of the environmental standard “Euro-6”! This is not yet available in the production range of Russian GAZelles, and the official premiere of GAZelle NN in Russia (for the media) will take place only on June 24th.
So far, only one modification is being made in Turkey – a chassis with a total weight of 3.5 tons, on which various superstructures will be installed. But in the near future, other modifications will be added, including passenger and cargo-passenger vans.
As for the engine, this is a heavily modernized Cummins F2.8, which has been installed on Russian GAZelles for a long time. It develops 170 hp. and 360 Nm of torque. The company notes that such engines will appear in Russia as well “for Russian customers who pay special attention to the environmental friendliness of vehicles“. Also, the car received a new 6-speed gearbox with a resource of 300,000 km and designed to transmit torque up to 450 Nm.
