In Venice for the Film Festival: where to sleep and eat to feel like a movie star

From 1 to 11 September, Venice will dress up for the International Film Festival, now in its 78th edition. But the Serenissima, with its 121 islands connected by 436 bridges, has always been synonymous with beauty and elegance, with its unique architecture and that romantic atmosphere that only she can offer.

Perfect background for unforgettable films and books, such as the latest novel by the Florio family, “The winter of the lions” written by Stefania Auci, who sees the couple on vacation at the Hotel Danieli, Venice is a perfect destination in every season.

Venice must be savored and experienced both from the water and from the mainland, where you get lost in its beauties. Get to Piazza San Marco, enjoy the joy of a coffee, or visit Ducal Palace; go up on the Rialto Bridge to admire the Grand Canal; get lost in the beauties of Peggy Guggenheim Museum, the most prestigious Italian collection dedicated to European and American art of the first half of the 1900s.

The Venice International Film Festival is organized by the Venice Biennale and directed by Alberto Barbera and will take place on the Lido of Venice. It is always here in fact, on the suggestive landing at the pier of theHotel Excelsior Venice Lido Resort, that the stars arrive to be photographed. The Hotel has been home to the Venice Film Festival since 1932, and to celebrate the hotel’s long association with the Biennale, iconic films from the history of cinema will be screened outdoors by the pool: from classics such as “Dr Jeckyll and Mr Hyde ”, to more modern ones such as“ A Star is Born ”and“ Unposted ”.

But there are so many splendid hotels not to be missed in this city, between great luxury and history, and restaurants where you can organize a special evening with a view after having seen one of the films in competition.
