In video, wife of “Pharaoh of Bitcoins” cries and says she lives injustice

In a video posted on YouTube last Monday (4), the wife of Glaidson Acácio – known as the “Pharaoh of Bitcoins” – Mirelis Yoseline Diaz Zerpa, 38, claimed to be living “an injustice she never imagined she would live”. .

Glaidson was arrested on August 25, 2021, as a result of the Kryptos operation, launched by the Federal Police (PF). The businessman is accused of heading a pyramid scheme that moved billions of reais through a bitcoin consultancy that operated in the municipality of Cabo Frio, in Rio de Janeiro.

In an outburst tone, for almost 28 minutes, Mirelis introduces herself, but comments little about the case, saying only that she has “fought all these months since that August 25th when I received the news, at 7 o’clock in the morning”.

For most of the video, the woman reads excerpts from the beginning of a book she is writing about her story. Wearing a sweatshirt, hair tied and a neutral background, she emphasizes that she is not used to recordings and that she had no intentions of becoming a public figure.

“I’m a person who doesn’t like to expose life on a social network, showing where I am. Whether I’m in Luxembourg, in a luxurious house, or I’m in Burundi, in a tin house,” she says.

Speaking in Spanish, her native language, Mirelis does not reveal her location, but claims to be alone. “Right now, I find myself here, in one place, alone.”

On the same day that Glaidson was arrested, the PF seized R$150 million in crypto assets, fulfilling 15 search and seizure warrants. About R$ 19 million in cash were also seized, in addition to 21 luxury vehicles, high-end watches, jewelry, values in foreign currency and documents.

Mirelis’ video is the first publication of her channel, created on the same day as the post. The report has more than 22,000 views so far. According to the woman, more content should be released.

“Bitcoin Pharaoh”

Glaidson Acácio’s nickname derives from the empire related to his company, GAS Consultoria, whose financial transactions would be in the billions of reais. According to investigations, the organization’s promise was a return of up to 15% of the amount invested by customers.

When he was arrested, Glaidson was in a mansion in Barra da Tijuca, West Zone of the capital of Rio de Janeiro. Operation Kryptos issued nine arrest warrants, five of which were served on August 25, including the arrest of Mirelis’ husband.

The company’s proposal would be similar to what an investment fund makes, in which the acquirer invests an amount and receives income. However, according to the IRS, when it comes to a volatile market, such as crypto-assets, it is not possible to guarantee a fixed return.

This means that the promise of fixed income to customers makes the business a pyramid scheme, whose profit will come from the contributions of new customers and not from the lucrative nature of the operations.

The financial pyramid constitutes an illegal practice punishable by the Penal Code. And, because it is a crime, it leads to the illicit enrichment of their mentors.

In September, the Justice denied habeas corpus to Glaidson.
