The developers have added a new security feature to the VK application. Now the messenger will warn users about suspicious interlocutors in personal and group chats. The corresponding notification in the form of a banner will appear in the correspondence if the social network algorithms detect suspicious activity. There will also be a link to submit a complaint. After adding such a user to the black list, the chat with him will be deleted. The new feature works in group chats with friends and in dialogues with those who are not friends.
The innovation is part of the global VK Protect initiative, which should provide protection in VK services. At the moment, warnings about suspicious interlocutors do not appear for all VKontakte users, the function is being rolled out gradually.
Marina Krasnova, Chief Executive Officer of VKontakte, noted that social network algorithms are already able to predict who is behind the account: a bot, a fraudster or a normal user. Thanks to this, it is possible to prevent the threat of fraud by fraudsters even at the stage of the beginning of correspondence. In February of this year, the VKontakte mobile application began to warn about phone spam and suspicious calls using intelligent algorithms and Big Data.
