The inauguration of the new, Automated Cooling Chamber of state-of-the-art technology was carried out by BARBA STATHIS, on Monday, May 30, 2022, at the company’s headquarters, in Thessaloniki.
In the framework of the Rural Development Program (RDP) and specifically of sub-measure 4.2 / Action 4.2.1 “Processing, marketing or even development with a final product within the Annex to the Operational Treaty for the European Union (TFEU) (agricultural product)”, recently completed the construction of the innovative, robotic refrigeration chamber, which was inaugurated by the Minister of Rural Development & Food, Mr. G. Georgantas, in the presence of political representatives and institutions of Northern Greece. The guests, during the opening event, had the opportunity to tour the facility and be informed about the operation of the important infrastructure project.
BARBA STATHIS, the company that has always been a leader in the field of food with its central axis of sustainable development and continuous modernization, pioneers, once again, with the construction of this chamber, which is ranked among the largest in Southeastern Europe. and is the largest of its kind in Greece. With a capacity of 10,500 pallets and environmentally friendly features, this deep freezer compartment achieves a significant reduction of the company’s energy footprint, as it consumes 65% -70% less energy than conventional booths, while the photovoltaic panels, which are located on the roof provide 40% of the annual energy required for its operation.
