Inclusive education benefits learning for all students, says expert

In an interview with CNN Radio, in the board CNN No Plural, Luiza Corrêa, advocacy coordinator at Instituto Rodrigo Mendes, said that inclusive education is important not only for students with special needs.

According to her, “it is very important that schools have a close relationship with students with deficiency and their families, who listen to them, have an issue as well, which is for the teacher to work in collaboration with specialized educational services so that both together prepare accessible and appropriate materials.

”The specialist analyzes that moving a teacher out of their comfort zone brings benefits to everyone: “Everyone is mobilized to create innovative ways of teaching.

“The advances, however, logically depend on public funding. “We need federal public resources applied to the modality, but aimed at regular public schools, to invest in teacher training, reforms, accessibility, to improve the reception of students with disabilities.”

Luiza drew attention to what she called the “attitudinal barrier”, when the attitude is still prejudiced against the capacity of people with disabilities. “When you look closely, students have more in common than differences. They are children who need to live with each other, to live in the future in society”, he explained. “We cannot determine the arrival point before the departure, everyone is capable of learning”, he added.
