After defeat in the Senate, opposition wants a post in the Budget committee

After being defeated in the Senate and running out of commission presidencies, opposition parties to the government of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) want the creation of more commissions so that they can command them, in addition to a post in the Mixed Budget Commission (CMO ).

Composed of around 23 senators, the opposition is looking for a way out to minimize the damage and still secure some important positions in the Senate after an articulation of Lula’s allied base made the Vanguarda parliamentary bloc – formed by PL, PP, Republicans and Novo – run out of commission commands.

A request from the opposition is that Senate President Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD-MG) create more permanent committees in the House. For example, Mines and Energy, Sports and Health. These themes are already covered in existing commissions, but the idea is to separate them and focus even more on future collegiate bodies led by the opposition.
