A newly -resulted insect weighing a little less than a golf ball can be the heaviest insect in Australia, according to scientists. The new species, 40cm long, named Acrophylla Alta, was found at high altitudes on the plateaus at anerton, in the northern Queensland. Scientists estimate that this environment contributes to its large size. An evaluated study published in Zootaxa magazine said the insect is probably heavier than the giant cockroach digging on the ground, which is endemic to Queensland and has been considered the heaviest insect of Australia to this day. Professor Angus Emott from James Cook University said the discovery was made by a post on social media.
