The Federal Ministry of Health of India announced today Monday that 8,309 cases of SARS-CoV-2 were confirmed in the previous 24 hours and another 236 patients died due to complications of COVID-19.
With 468,790 deaths out of a total of 34,580,832 infections since the outbreak of the new coronavirus in its territory, the subcontinent of 1.3 billion inhabitants records the third heaviest death toll in the world in absolute terms, behind the US and Brazil. the second highest number of cases, after the US, at least according to official data.
The so-called active cases decreased to 103,859 (-1,832 in 24 hours), a level that is “the lowest in the last 544 days”, according to the Ministry of Health.
