A man who was pronounced dead after a car accident in India, was finally found alive, albeit in critical condition, after spending a night in the morgue, as became known today by the director of the hospital.
Srici Kumar, 45, was taken to a private clinic after being swept away by a motorbike in Morandaban, east of New Delhi, on Friday. The doctor who examined him there confirmed his death and requested that the body be sent to a public hospital for an autopsy-necropsy.
“The doctor urgently examined him. He did not find any trace of life and therefore declared him dead, “said Rajendra Kumar, director of the public hospital.
The “corpse” was placed in the morgue until his relatives arrived at the hospital, six hours later.
“When the police and the family went to start the bureaucratic procedure for the autopsy, they found him alive,” the director added.
The 45-year-old is being treated in a coma.
Authorities are conducting an investigation to determine how the mistake was made diagnosis.
