THE India officially accused her China and emphasized that he is trying to unilaterally change the situation prevailing on the controversial borders of the two countries located in Himalayas.
China’s military said today that Indian soldiers illegally crossed their disputed border in the Himalayas and obstructed Beijing’s troops.
Previously, Beijing had described the situation as “stable” on its border with India, calling on it to “maintain together the peace and tranquility of the (…) border region”.
The standoff, which was reported by the Indian side on Monday, followed recent joint US-India military training near the border.
Relations between the two nuclear powers are at their lowest ebb following the clashes in the Himalayas in June 2020, which had killed 20 Indian and at least four Chinese soldiers.
The border between the two countries, part of which is over 4,000 meters high and has never been precisely defined, was the subject of a war in 1962.
Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh confirmed that Indian and Chinese troops were involved in a standoff on December 9 in the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh (northeast).
“On December 9, 2022, the troops of the People’s Liberation Army [ο κινεζικός στρατός] they tried to unilaterally change the status quo by violating the Line of Effective Control,” Rajnath Singh said, referring to the de facto border. “A scuffle took place during this confrontation. The Indian Army bravely prevented the Chinese Army from invading our territory and forced (the Chinese soldiers) to leave their positions. Some soldiers of both sides were injured in the clash.”
