India and Pakistan exchange fire on Kashmir, UN calls for restraint

After a similar incident yesterday, the Indian army announced today that there was an exchange of fire between Indian and Pakistani forces along the Kashmir border at night. The Indian Army noted that “unexpected” light weapons fire were dropped by “many” positions of the Pakistani army “along the Kashmir control line” on Friday night on Saturday. “Indian forces reacted in the appropriate way by using light weapons,” the Indian army added in a statement, stating that there were no casualties. The tension between India and Pakistan, two nuclear forces and allied US countries, escalated after a deadly attack on Tuesday in Indian Kashmir.
