India: Announces highest death toll in one day since July

India today announced the highest number of deaths from COVID-19 in a 24-hour period since July, following a review of the death toll in two states.

The eastern state of Bihar today added to its 2,426 unreported deaths from the disease caused by the new coronavirus and the southern state of Kerala 263 deaths, a spokesman for the federal health ministry told Reuters.

According to the revised figures, the total death toll in one day from COVID-19 rose to 2,796 and is the highest recorded in the country since July 21, according to a Reuters count.
