India’s smartphone shipments reached 39 million units in the first quarter of 2021, according to the latest study by Strategy Analytics. This is 26% more than in the first quarter of 2020. This growth rate is the highest for this market over the past six years.

The market leader is Xiaomi. However, it was able to increase shipments by only 5%, from 9.8 to 10.3 million units. As a result, the share of Xiaomi for the year decreased from 32.0% to 26.5%.
Samsung is in second place. The South Korean manufacturer was able to increase supplies from 5.0 to 7.2 million units, that is, by 45%. Since this is more than the overall figure, Samsung’s share increased from 16.1% to 18.6%.
In third place is Vivo. Having increased shipments from 4.8 to 7.0 million devices, the brand was able to increase its share from 15.7% to 18.0%.
This is followed by Vivo and Realme. The share of the former increased from 12.0% to 12.1% over the year, while the share of the latter decreased from 14.7% to 11.1%.
