At least 50 people, mostly children, have dies in India from a “mysterious” fever sweeping the countryside of the populous state of Uttar Pradesh. For over a week now, dozens of children have been waking up with a high fever and soaking in sweat.
Several hundred people have been admitted to hospital and none of the dead tested positive for coronavirus.
According to a BBC report, many of the children they display fever, complained of joint pain, headaches, dehydration and nausea and in some cases reported rashes that spread to the legs and arms.
Doctors in some of the affected areas – Agra, Mathura, Mainpuri, Etah, Kasganj and Firozabad – believe the main cause of death could be dengue fever, a viral mosquito infection.
