India warned “a very strong response” on behalf of India that Indian Foreign Minister Subrachmaniam Jaisankar would cause any attack on Pakistan, the day after the fiercest military confrontation between the two countries over two decades. “We do not intend to provoke a new escalation,” he said at a meeting with his Iranian counterpart Abbas Aragsi. “But if we are attacked, there is no doubt that we will respond very strongly.” Iran has proposed to mediate between the two nuclear forces after the attack that cost the lives of 26 people on April 22 in Pacalgam, a tourist city in the Indian part of the Kashmir Diagnostic area.
