Indian PM criticizes Putin for Ukraine war

the prime minister Indian, AtRendra Modi, told Russian President Vladimir Putinthis Friday (16), which now is not the time to wardirectly attacking the Kremlin chief in public for the nearly seven-month conflict at Ukraine.

Caught in a showdown with the West per cause of war, Putin has repeatedly said that Russia is not isolated perthat can look east to major Asian powers such as China and India.

But at a summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO, at acronym in English), concerns have spread.

“I know that the age of today is not an age of warand I spoke to you on the phone about it,” Modi told Putin in a televised meetingatgives at ancient Uzbek Silk Road city of Samarkand.

Putin told Modi that he understands that the leader Indian be concerned about Ukrainebut that Moscow is doing everything it can to end the conflict.

“I know your position on the conflict at Ukrainethe concerns you constantly express,” said Putin. “We will do everything to get this over with as quickly as possible.”

THE war at Ukrainetriggered when Putin ordered the invasion of troops on 24 February, killed tenatthousands of soldiers, provoked the worst confrontation with the West since the War Cold and sent the global economy into an inflationary spiral.

India has become Russia’s second oil buyer after Chinaatas others cut back on purchases after the invasion.
