Indian Summer: Brazil may have above-average temperatures for winter from Thursday (18)

After two consecutive cold waves at the beginning of winter, temperatures are rising again in Brazil, according to Climatempo. Some regions may see maximums between 3ºC and 5ºC warmer than usual for the season starting Thursday (18).

Meteorologists predict that the dry spell will last a week, until July 25th.

The rise in temperatures should be felt in the three southern states, part of the southeast, with the exception of Espírito Santo and in the states that make up the Brazilian Central-West.

It is worth highlighting the possibility of thermometers recording maximums between 5°C and 7°C above the average for the season in the west of Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina, Paraná and Mato Grosso do Sul.

The weather will get warmer, according to Climatempo, due to the formation of a new atmospheric blockage in the central region of the country. The consequence will be the stabilization of a mass of hot air in much of Brazil. This blockage may also prevent the formation of large rain clouds.

The population is expected to experience higher temperatures, especially in the afternoon. The nights and early mornings are expected to remain cold over the next few days. This is why the term “veranico” (a dry spell) is used to describe the situation.
