Indonesia: Independent commission to investigate the causes of the tragedy with hundreds of dead in a football match

Hundreds of people – more than 125 at last count – died in the incidents that took place in football match in the city of Malang Indonesia, in one of the biggest sporting tragedies on the planet. It all happened when the police forces used tear gas against fans, who invaded the pitch of ‘Kanjuruhan Stadium’ after local Arema’s 3-2 defeat by Persebaya Surabaya.

The government of the country announced, as reported by APE-MPE, that an independent commission will investigate the causes of the tragedywhile the president of Arema, Jilang Widya Pramana, apologized to the families of the victims and declared that he is ready to take the responsibilities that belong to his team for what happened.

Its president IndonesiaJoko Widodo ordered to suspend all football matches in the country until the incident is investigated.
