The industrial production index decelerated to 50.1 points in June, showing signs of a decline in the sector, according to a survey released this Friday (15) by the National Confederation of Industry (CNI) .
In May, the index was at 53.6 points, signaling an improvement in production compared to April, which recorded a score of 46.5.
The indicator ranges from 0 to 100 points, with a cut-off line of 50 points, values above indicate growth and below it fall.
The CNI highlights that the June production result remained stable, approaching 50 points. However, the month is down from the previous survey due to the lack of raw materials and high costs, which have been felt since the beginning of the pandemic.
Among other problems reported by entrepreneurs are high interest rates. According to the survey, industry members reported greater dissatisfaction with operating profit and greater difficulty obtaining credit.
On the other hand, in the view of businessmen, there was a slight increase in satisfaction with their financial situation.
When comparing June 2022 with the month’s history, it is possible to observe an improvement, as the average is 47.2 points, below 50 points.
“In other words, the production rhythm was maintained from May to June 2022, although there is usually a drop in the period”, pointed out the research.
