Inep president’s departure will have no impact on Enem, education minister tells CNN

The Minister of Education, Victor Godoy, declared, this Wednesday (27), in an interview with CNN that the departure of Danilo Dupas from the command of the National Institute of Educational Studies and Research Anísio Teixeira (Inep) will not have an impact on the performance of the National High School Exam (Enem).

“The impact is practically nil, because I think the great work we have done in recent years at Inep was to institutionalize the processes. We did a great job of improving governance and the Enem is an examination carried out by many hands, including with several external partners”, says Godoy.

“Now, we are in a phase of the Enem application schedule in which the tests are already prepared and all Inep’s internal procedures have already been carried out for the conclusion of the test. We move on to that more external phase of applying the Enem, which is sending the test to the printer, which will print it and then all the distribution and application logistics for all students”, he continues.

The Enem is scheduled to take place on the 13th and 20th of November.

Godoy also mentions that no other test scheduled for the second half of this year will be affected, such as the National Student Performance Exam (Enade), National Exam for Revalidation of Medical Diplomas (Revalida) and the National Exam for the Certification of Young People’s Skills Adults (Encceja).

As of August, Carlos Moreno, director of Educational Statistics, will take charge of Inep.

In a note, the Ministry of Education (MEC) reported that Moreno is a career server at the institution itself, a doctoral student in Education at the Catholic University of Brasília and a Master in Statistics at the University of Brasília (UnB).

According to Godoy, the ex-president’s departure took place for personal reasons. “The departure of current president Danilo Dupas took place for personal reasons and at the request. I am grateful for all the work carried out during this period, which has brought important advances to the municipality”.
