The Martinelli Building, located in the center of São Paulo, faced a infiltration problem in one of its water reservoirs, last Tuesday (21). São Paulo City Hall employees work on site.
The situation was detected when technicians discovered an obstruction in the building’s sewage network, which caused infiltration in the side wall of the reservoir.
As a safety measure, the building’s main reservoir was isolated for inspections and tests.
The Basic Sanitation Company of the State of São Paulo (Sabesp) was contacted, and announced that “Sabesp requested the isolation of the water reservoir and the team continues to provide all necessary assistance”.
In a statement, the City of São Paulo, through the administration of the Martinelli Building, which houses six municipal bodies, informed that “face-to-face activities have been suspended. Employees were advised to work remotely until the issue was resolved.”
THE CNN contacted the building’s authorities and is awaiting a response.
The building has a secondary reservoir and five independent water tanks, which continue to be analyzed to ensure that the quality of the water supplied is adequate during the process of emptying and sanitizing the main reservoir.
