Developed by Infineon, pmdtechnologies and ArcSoft, a Time-of-Flight (ToF) camera can be hidden under the screen surface. Let’s clarify that this is a turnkey solution, that is, ready for integration into commercial models. ToF cameras are now placed in a frame or in a hole in the screen.

The solution in question delivers high quality infrared images and 3D data for applications such as face authentication and mobile payments.

According to some estimates, shipments of ToF cameras for smartphones, starting this year, will grow by an average of 32% per year and in 2025 will exceed 600 million units.
