The Consumer Price Index (IPC), which measures inflation in the city of São Paulo, rose 0.54% in December, accelerating from the advance of 0.47% in November, according to data published this Thursday (5). ) by the Economic Research Institute Foundation (Fipe).
Throughout 2022, the IPC-Fipe accumulated inflation of 7.32%, below the 9.73% of 2021. The annual rate, however, was above expectations, which ranged from 4.92% to 7.29%.
The December result also surpassed the ceiling of estimates by market institutions consulted by the Broadcast projectionsfrom increases of 0.20% to 0.50%, with a median of 0.34%.
Just last month, four of the seven components of the IPC-Fipe gained strength: Housing (from -0.09% in November to 0.05% in December), Food (from 0.47% to 1.07%), Expenses Personal (from 0.71% to 0.75%) and Education (from 0.12% to 0.13%).
On the other hand, there was cooling in the categories of Transport (from 0.84% in November to 0.04% in December), Health (from 1.17% to 1.14%) and Apparel (from 1.39% to 1. 18%).
