The Consumer Price Index of the euro zone rose one tenth in September, standing at the 0.5%, as expected, from the previous 0.4%. This is the highest monthly reading since last April. The Year-on-year CPI for the same month has increased 3.4% from the previous 3%, meeting forecasts.
The lowest annual rates were recorded in Malta (0.7%), Portugal (1.3%) and Greece (1.9%). The highest have been in Estonia, Lithuania (both countries with 6.4%) and Poland (5.6%).
Annual inflation in the European Union was 3.6% in September 2021, compared to 3.2% in August.
Monthly core inflation in the euro zone has remained at 0.5%, as expected, after the August data was revised up from 0.3% to the current 0.5%. Annually, the underlying CPI has grown to 1.9% from the previous 1.6%, fulfilling forecasts and reaching its highest figure since 2008.
