After losing strength in May, the IPCA-15 (Extended National Consumer Price Index-15) accelerated again in June, reaching 0.69% at the end of the month, informed the IBGE (Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics) this Friday (24th). The number is 0.10 percentage point (pp) higher than the May rate (0.59%).
The index is considered an “official inflation preview”.
The sub-item with the greatest influence on the rate for the month was health plans, said the institute, which rose 2.99% and represented 0.10 pp in the result.
In comparison with June of last year, however, the index slowed to 12.04%, below the 12.20% registered in the 12 immediately previous months.
The median of market analysts’ expectations pointed to 0.68% in the monthly comparison and 12.03% in the annual comparison.

All groups of products and services surveyed increased in June, especially the Transport group, which rose 0.84%, a deceleration in relation to May (1.80%). The group accounted for 0.19 pp in the general index.
“The deceleration of the group was due to the drop in fuel prices (-0.55%), which had risen 2.05% in May. Although there was an increase in diesel (2.83%), ethanol and gasoline fell by 4.41% and 0.27%, respectively,” said the IBGE.
It is worth noting that the June number does not yet reflect the last adjustment made by Petrobras in fuel prices.
Among the increases in this group, the institute highlights airline tickets (11.36%), voluntary vehicle insurance (4.20%) and license plates (1.71%). Motorcycles (1.66%), new cars (1.46%) and used cars (0.12%) also increased in price.
The biggest change in the month was in the Clothing group (1.77% and 0.08 pp).
The Health and Personal Care group is another highlight among the increases, with an increase of 1.27% in the month and 0.16 pp of contribution in the June index, “mostly on account of health plans, which underwent readjustment of up to 15 .5% authorized by the National Supplementary Health Agency (ANS) on May 26, effective from May 2022 and whose cycle ends in April 2023”, says the IBGE.
In the group, it also influenced the rise of 1.38% in pharmaceutical products, with an impact of 0.05 pp on the index for the month.
