Considered the “inflation preview”, the Extended National Consumer Price Index – 15 (IPCA-15) rose 0.55% in January, after rising 0.52% in December, as disclosed by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) this Tuesday (24).
In the last 12 months, the IPCA-15 variation was 5.87%, below the 5.90% observed in the immediately previous 12 months. In January 2022, the index stood at 0.58%.
The market expected an increase of 0.52% in the monthly comparison and 5.83%, in the annual comparison.
All nine groups of products and services surveyed rose in January. The main impacts came from Health and personal care (1.10%) and Food and beverages (0.55%).
The Communication group stood out for the greatest variation (2.36%), while the others were between a 0.17% increase in Transport and Housing, and a 0.57% increase in Personal expenses, says the IBGE
