All income brackets in the country registered high inflation in the last month of December, informed the Institute of Applied Economic Research (Ipea) this Thursday (12).
In absolute terms, the lowest income bracket had the biggest increase among the groups, at 0.71%, while the highest income bracket recorded the smallest increase, at 0.5%.
The high prices last month were driven by two groups: Health and Personal Care and Food and Beverages. In the first segment, the focus of pressure for lower income classes was the 3.7% increase in personal hygiene products, while, for higher income families, the 1.2% readjustment of health plans weighed .
As for the food and beverage group, increases in cereals (4.5%), tubers (5.7%) and farinaceous products (1.4%) generated a strong impact on inflation in December, especially for income groups lower, even considering the deflation of milk and derivatives (-1.7%) and fruits (-1.6%).
For high-income families, the Personal Expenses group also weighed, reflecting the 0.8% increases in recreation goods and services.
In the accumulated result for the year, inflation in all ranges analyzed by Ipea slowed down compared to that observed in the same period of 2021. According to the survey, lower-middle-income families had the lowest inflationary increase (5.59%), while with high income had the highest increase in the period (6.83%).
