The Extended Consumer Price Index (IPCA) – which measures the country’s official inflation – was 0.95% in November, compared to 1.25% in the previous month.
Despite having shown a slowdown, the value is the highest for the month since 2015, informed the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) this Friday (10).
In the year, the indicator accumulates a high of 9.26% and, in the last 12 months, of 10.74%, above the 10.67% registered in the immediately previous 12 months. The IBGE highlights that the value accumulated in 12 months was the highest since November 2003 (11.02%). In November 2020, the monthly variation was 0.89%.
Analysts’ estimate pointed to an increase of 1.08% from October to November and 10.88% compared to a year earlier.
On Wednesday, the Central Bank raised the Selic by 1.5 percentage points, to 9.25% per year, and signaled another increase of the same magnitude at the next meeting.
