Carlos Henrique Medeiros, 26 years old, was found dead, buried in the backyard of a house, last Saturday (30), in Itapecerica da Serra, in Greater São Paulo.
The young man, a digital influencer with more than 85 thousand followers on Instagram, disappeared on Christmas Eve. He was going to spend supper with his sister, Cátia Medeiros, but hours before he gave up and decided to go to a friend's house.
Cátia told CNN that he called around 9pm on December 24th saying that he would like to spend the night with his colleagues, who live on the same street in the neighborhood.
They live on the same land, in separate houses. She said that on the morning of the 25th she went looking for her brother, but didn't find him. He then decided to go to his friends' property, where he said he had spent the night.
According to the influencer's sister, the couple confirmed that Carlos spent part of the night there, but left around 2am. The family started calling other friends of Carlos and no one knew his whereabouts.
The sister, after visiting hospitals and police stations in the region and not finding the young man, decided to file a missing person report.
Cátia stated that a childhood friend of Carlos decided, on his own, to go to the house where the influencer said he spent Christmas Eve. Upon arriving at the property, the boy noticed that the dirt in the backyard was “soft”. While digging, he found the influencer's body and called the police.
The couple, who own the house, said at the police station that the influencer used drugs during the night, overdosed and died. The man and woman claimed they were desperate and decided to bury the body.
The Scientific Police reported that necroscopic examinations, which will identify the cause of death, should be ready within 60 days. The couple's temporary arrest was ordered and are being held at the Itapecerica da Serra Police Station.
Investigations are ongoing and the police will await the results of the medical examination into how the influencer died. If the couple's participation in the death is confirmed, the man and woman could be charged with homicide and concealment of a corpse.
