On the run because of his involvement with the so-called Jogo do Tigrinho, digital influencer Diego Allysson de Lemos, better known as Diego Apeludu, was arrested this week in Serra Talhada, in the Sertão of Pernambuco, during an operation launched by the Civil Police of Minas Gerais.
The 29-year-old man from Extrema (MG) is suspected of involvement in the promotion of online gambling, especially “Jogo do Tigrinho”, money laundering and crimes against the economic order and consumption. Diego has more than 90 thousand followers on social media, where he shares a life of luxury and travel with his admirers.
The arrest occurred following investigations carried out by the Extrema Police Station, which identified the suspect as responsible for publishing and operating illegal bets.
Diego Apeludu, who used his social networks to promote the game, was located in a hotel in Serra Talhada, with support from the local Military Police. During the action, a car, a cell phone and a notebook were seized, which contained material used to promote the games, including videos and live broadcasts of betting.
Investigations indicated that Diego obtained large profits from the illegal gambling operation, and was also the target of investigations for involvement in an international criminal organization. Conversations on messaging apps with Chinese partners revealed financial negotiations to promote the game and expand its betting network.
The police also requested the breach of the influencer’s banking and tax secrecy, which allowed the Financial Activities Control Council (Coaf) and other supervisory bodies to identify asset growth incompatible with his previous occupation as a motorcycle courier. In previous stages of the operation, luxury vehicles, a jet ski and other high-value goods were seized.
The influencer was taken to the police authority in Serra Talhada, where he remains at the disposal of the Pernambuco Court.
