Five Military Police are among the 22 arrested by the Bahia Civil Police on the morning of Wednesday (9), in the operation “False Promises 2”, which aims to dismantle a criminal organization involved in illegal raffles and money laundering.
The arrests occurred in the Salvador Metropolitan Region and in the interior of the state.
Among the prisoners, is also a couple named as the leader of the scheme and other influencers. The couple was arrested in a condominium on the Côco Road in Salvador. Four other suspects with leadership function were found in Vera Cruz, Juazeiro and the Metropolitan Region, as well as a suspect arrested in the state of São Paulo.
During the operation, about 300 agents served 22 pre -trial detention warrants and executed 30 search and seizure warrants, as well as six different precautionary measures.
Civil Police investigations show that the group used social networks to publicize high value raffles, such as luxury vehicles, being manipulated draws in order to favor members of the organization itself.
The scheme had support from façade companies and oranges as owners of these businesses, so masked the origin of the values ​​obtained.
In the action, vehicles, watches, cash, cell phones and notebooks were seized, and the kidnapping of up to R $ 10 million of each investigated, totaling R $ 680 million in blockages, was seized.
