Ingenuity's first color photo of Mars: epic footage of the Perseverance rover

The photo shows the surface of the Red Planet and the traces left by the Perseverance rover in the Jezero crater. The picture was taken on April 22, 2021. A NASA spokesman noted:

This is the first color image of the surface of Mars taken by an aircraft while it was in the air. ”

Today, April 25, 2021, Ingenuity’s third combat mission is due to take place. It will be the longest running at the moment. Ingenuity is planned to rise to a height of about 5 meters above the surface of the Jezero crater and cover a total distance of 100 meters. The flight should take about 80 seconds. The exact time of the launch has not been reported, but the data will begin to arrive on Earth at about 17:16 Moscow time.

The helicopter was delivered to Mars attached to the bottom of the Perseverance rover, which landed in Jezero Crater on February 18, 2021. Ingenuity’s main objectives are to demonstrate technology and conduct the first flights to Mars. NASA is already working on the next generation of Martian helicopters.
