The training of the princess is following the same steps as his father, who at the time chose the same land military corps. “I have no second thoughts,” he commented a few days ago in response to a question about the choice made. Among her colleagues Ingrid has the same duties: “She has to wash the floor, tidy up the room, make the bed and attend lessons, we expect the same things from her as other soldiers,” Commander Hågen Vangsnes told Norwegian radio NRK. It is not the first time that Ingrid of Norway wears camouflage, she had already done so when she turned 18, during a short training period, but now the commitment is full time, and will be for the next twelve months.

The future queen, however, is certainly not one to hold back. After completing her high school studies she left home, choosing to live in an apartment in the lively Grünerløkka neighborhood of Oslo, while at the same time she worked in a primary school as an assistant. Once her experience in uniform is over, Ingrid will choose University, while the throne is still far away, at least on paper. Grampa Harald V, king since 1991, has no intention of abdicating following the example of his neighbor Margrethe of Denmark, as revealed several times over the years: «I remain faithful to what I said, that is, that I took the oath to Parliament and that it will be for life», he told Norwegian media recently. At 86 he is the oldest monarch in Europe, but also very steadfast.
