“Inhuman” delivery of Russian Post expands its geography. You can order a Yandex robot courier for only 1 ruble

Last year, Yandex rovers began working at Post Office in Moscow. Now such delivery has started working in two new regions: the city of Murino in the Leningrad region and in Innopolis in Tatarstan.

You can use the service through the Mail app on Android. The shipping cost is one ruble.

In Murino, three robots work in two departments: at 17 Baltika Aviators Avenue (188677) and at 8 Okhtinskaya Alley (188666). In Innopolis, two rovers are delivered from the only branch in the city.

The delivery radius is 2 kilometers. If the user is in the coverage area, then when choosing to deliver the parcel to the house, he will see the option with a robot in the application interface. The maximum weight and dimensions of parcels are up to 15 kg and up to 42x49x29 cm.

Employees of the department load the parcel into the robot, after which it is sent to the address specified by the user. The client will receive a notification and will be able to track the remaining time until the arrival of the robot and its position on the map in the mobile application. When the robot arrives, the client will also receive a notification and an SMS with a code that will need to be entered in the application. The robot will open the lid and the package can be picked up. If the client is not in place and cannot go out to pick up the order, the robot will return to the branch after a 15-minute wait and leave the package there. In this case, delivery can be ordered again.

Stanislav Chernin, Innovation Director of the Russian Post, noted:

The pilot project in Moscow showed that robot delivery is not only interesting, but also convenient for our customers. We are working to ensure that both ground and flying drones become as commonplace as a car on a route.”
