Initial jobless claims fall much more than expected to 803,000

The Department of Labor reported that Initial claims for unemployment benefits fell by 89,000 in the week ended December 19 to 803,000. The data was better than expected which was for a reading of 885,000.

Regarding the continued ordersThese fell by 170,000 in the week ended December 12 to 5,337,000, lower than the market consensus of 5,558,000, and the lowest since the beginning of the impact of the pandemic.

The report of durable goods requests and the personal income and expense report also came out. The dollar rose slightly after them. In general it was mixed data, without big surprises.
